CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS FOR SAARC YOUTH CAMP 2017
Bhubaneswar: June 26, 07.30 PM : Kabul is all set to organize the 5th SAARC Youth Camp as the proposed camp will be held from 20th – 24th July 2017 here in the capital city of Afghanistan hosted by the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in collaboration with SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) Secretariat & IYC (International Youth Committee). SAARC Youth Camps are held annually to promote cultural interaction among the youth. It was held previously in India, Sri Lanka, Maldives and Bangladesh.
The South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation (SAARC) is an organization of South Asian nations, which was established on 8th December 1985 to work towards the promotion of socio-economic and socio-cultural development within the South Asia region and for the mutual friendship and cooperation with other developing countries. The First SAARC Youth Camp was held in Bangladesh in December 2007. Subsequently, Sri Lanka hosted the Second SAARC Youth Camp in Colombo in 2008. The Third SAARC Youth Camp was held in Maldives in 2010. The Fourth held in India in 2013.
The major role of International Youth Committee is to recommend 5 youth delegates each from all SAARC member states namely India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Maldives, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Bangladesh.
This year the South Asian Youth Summit 2017 will be held in Bhubaneswar, India from 17th – 20th September 2017. Last date to apply for summit is 30th June 2017. The interested candidates can mail firstname.lastname@example.org to collect registration forms. A total of about 450 youth leaders are going to participate from 8 SAARC member states and 9 observer countries like USA, Australia, Japan, Mauritius, Myanmar, European Union, China, etc.
The entire South Asian region holds tremendous opportunities for socio-political, socio-economic and socio-cultural growth and a collaborative effort towards the development of this region could be anticipated as SAARC is the common platform for all the member countries to work together in a goal to achieve friendship, trust, and understanding. It is an important platform where all the members states put forward their problems and try to find out the solutions at large.
