Rotary International President addressed the inauguration of multi district training conference
Rotary International President, 2019-20, Rtn Mark Daniel Maloney addressed a press conference on the occasion of inauguration of a mega multi district training conference of Presidents, Secretaries, Assistant Governors. District officials from 90 Clubs of Rotary District 3262 comprising Odisha. Speaking on the occasion, he described the humanitarian work undertaken by Rotary International to serve the underprivileged in the areas of health, education, sanitation and conflict resolution. He also spoke of the role of RI in eradicating polio from the world barring a few projects through its funding of the Pulse Polio vaccination program of WHO.
He outlined the role of Rotary in bringing communities and people together worldwide in keeping with the RI theme for the year, 'Rotary Connects the World'. He praised the wonderful work being taken up by Rtn Debasish Mishra, the District Governor of RID 3262 for 2019-20 through innovative and creative service projects. Rtn Mishra, DGE announced that RID 3262 would be setting up 50 water ATMs to dispense 2500 litres of drinking water daily in government hospitals and Bus Stands in Odisha. He also informed that 200 Govt schools would be provided with 10000 benches and desks to benefit 30000 students in collaboration with NALCO. 5000 free cataract surgeries would be performed on BPL patients by the Rotary eye hospitals in the district.
Rtn Mark Maloney announced that he would inaugurate the first phase of a Rotary Global Grant bio-toilet project for ladies in Unit VII and distribute eye kits to beneficiaries of cataract surgeries in Rotary Eye Hospital, Patia.
Other speakers on the occasion included Rotary International Director, Rtn Kamal Sanghvi and eminent Past District Governors Rtn T N Subramanian, Rtn Bal Inamdar, Rtn Deepak Shikarpur and Rtn Ajay Agarwal.
