City Women Leaders led the foundation for the Bio Toilets through Global Grant
A very new innovative initiation is being made in the city today towards the installation of Toilets and that to for women, through women and and a team led by the women. Rtn Debasish Mishra, District Governor Elect, Rotary International District 3262 conducted the 'Bhumi Puja' for Bio-toilet Global Grant project, 1757749 in Nila Pani Tanki Basti, Unit 8, Bhubaneswar at 3.30 pm today. Four toilets will be installed in the first phase for use of ladies in the slum as part of a project to construct 40 eco friendly toilets in ten slums of Bhubaneswar.
Rtn Dr Torulata Dwivedy welcomed all present and spoke about the inception the project. Incoming District Trainer, Rtn Jayashree Mohanty of E Club briefed the gathering about the project and Rtn Dr Sudeep Sen spoke about technical features of the bio-toilet. Manasi Das, Coordinator LWSI spoke on the capacity building of Mahila Mandals to manage the product. The Chief Guest, Rtn Debasish Mishra addressed the gathering about the role of Rotary and the Foundation in community service. Primary Contact PP Rtn Purabi Das, R C New Horizon, thanked all present.
The project is jointly undertaken by Rotary Club of Bhubaneswar, New Horizon, Rotary E Club, Bhubaneswar, RC Hills Kellyville and RC Caloundra of Australia, RID 3262, Rotary Foundation and Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation. The cooperating partner for the project is Lutheran World Society, India. It is sponsored partially by FEDCO and executed by BTL, Kolkata.
