New Delhi, 2nd September 2018; Parichay Foundation organized the fifth edition of ‘Parampara’ celebrating the guru-shishya tradition to commemorate Teacher’s Day at Sri Sathya Sai Auditorium, New Delhi on September 2nd. Union Minister, Science and Technology and Environment, Forest and Climate Change Dr. Harsh Vardhan attended the event as the Chief Guest along with MP, Dr. Prasanna Kumar Patasani. Renowned painter, sculptor and muralist Padma Bhusan Jatin Das, eminent dancer Padma Shri Madhavi Mudgal and eminent dancer Jayprabha Menon also attended as guests on the occasion.
A philanthropic organisation, Parichay Foundation has been engaged in bringing about economic and social upliftment for underprivileged in urban and rural slums of Odisha and Delhi, particularly working towards women empowerment and welfare. That apart, Parichay has also been consistently making efforts to promote Indian art and culture.
In sync with its objective to preserve Indian art and culture, ‘Parampara’ gave a befitting tribute to the age-old teacher-disciple tradition by showcasing a beautiful Odissi dance drama ‘Adyanta’ by Guru Smt Sujata Mohapatra and her disciples. The enthralling performance kept the audience hooked to their seats.
Talking about the event, Founder, Parichay Smt Rosalin Patasani Mishra said, “Although Parichay stands for women empowerment, one of the primary objectives of the foundation is promotion of art and culture. Having started its journey over a decade back in Delhi, every cultural show that Parichay has been organising in Delhi is very special and Parampara is very close to my heart. I have immense respect for the guru-shishya tradition and displaying it through dance, could there be anything more beautiful than that? I am grateful to eminent Odissi dancer Sujata Mohapatra for showcasing the essence of this programme with her performance. And for the first time Parichay also made an attempt to bring together renowned gurus of different classical dance forms for a talk show based on the guru-shishya tradition. With the programme being held on the occasion of guru purnima, I can only extend my gratitude to all these gurus for gracing the Parichay platform. I want to thank everyone who has supported us to make this programme a success.”
